The Northern Command of the Indian Army on Friday began a two-day
symposium in Jammu and Kashmir’s Udhampur district to identify
cutting-edge technologies it needed for solving operational challenges.
General Officer Commanding in Chief (GoC-In-C), Northern Command,
Lieutenant General Upendra Dwivedi said the seminar will pave the way to
identify suitable technologies and products for subsequent trials and inductions
into the command.
Mr Dwivedi said the Ministry of Defense has set a target for indigenous
defense manufacturing of items worth USD 25 billion, including an export
target of USD 5 billion, by 2025.
The exhibition was inaugurated by Vice Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen BS Raju
and the theme of the symposium ‘ self-reliance in defense through
Atmanirbharta and infusion of new technologies to meet operational challenges
of the command’ is quite apt and conveys the pressing needs of the day.
